Memorial Garden

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is a challenge that nearly everyone will experience during their lifetime. A portion of our church property has been beautifully landscaped and set aside as a committal place for cremains. The purpose of the Memorial Garden is to be a sacred, quiet place for people in the community to visit, reflect, pray and remember. It provides a physical connection to and ongoing remembrance of those who have gone before us.

DSC08750 retThe Memorial Garden is for the burial of human cremains only. The actual cremation is not covered by the cost. The cost for burial of cremated remains in the ground of the Memorial Garden at Chalfont United Methodist Church is $325.00. A biodegradable container is required for interment in the Memorial Garden and needs to be supplied by your funeral director. Funeral or memorial service and arrangements may be coordinated by the funeral home prior to cremation. The funeral director or, in absence of a funeral director, you should call the church office at 215.822.2807 to make arrangements with our staff to prepare for the burial. Cremated remains may not be left with Chalfont United Methodist Church at any time prior to the day of interment.

There will be no interment markers placed in the garden ground. An optional plaque nameplate can be installed on the garden wall. A record book will be kept in the church office. Records will include name of deceased, date of birth, date of death, date of burial, funeral director, next of kin and location of burial in the garden.

No flowers, wreaths, plantings, memorials, etc. are to be placed in the garden. Decorative additions to the Memorial Garden will not be permitted and will be removed if placed there.
